In the Year 823 (:1420/21) an ambassador from China arrived with three enormous ships. On them were precious gifts with a value equal to 20 Lakka34 Gold. And the ambassador stepped in front of king (malik) al-Nasir but did not kiss the earth between his hands. Instead he said: ‘Your lord, the sovereign of China greets you and advises you to treat your subjects justly’. (The Sultan) said: ‘Welcome! How nice, that you have come!’ He offered him honours and allowed him to live in the guesthouse. Ibn al-Dayba

Indonesia is a strategic leader in the Asia-Pacific, ASEAN, and the Muslim world. As the largest Muslim-majority nation and ASEAN’s biggest economy, it plays a key role in regional stability, trade, and Islamic diplomacy, serving as a vital bridge between Southeast Asia, the Muslim world, and global powers.Muhammadiyah is one of Indonesia’s largest and most influential Islamic organizations, known for its leadership in education, healthcare, and social reform. With its global networks and progressive vision, it plays a significant role in shaping modern Islamic thought and fostering inter-civilizational dialogue across the Muslim world and beyond.
Zhenghe Forum and Muhammadiyah collaborated successfully during the 2019 Zhenghe Forum held in Surabaya, which attracted an audience of approximately 5,000 participants. During the recent visit of the President of the Zhenghe Forum to Indonesia, Muhammadiyah extended a warm reception. Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in jointly organizing future iterations of the Zhenghe Forum, with the aim of establishing it as a major platform for dialogue on critical issues facing the Muslim world. This deep-rooted bond suggests tremendous potential for future collaboration—particularly in co-organizing a Zheng He Forum in Indonesia. Such a forum could leverage this shared legacy to foster cultural dialogue and strengthen economic exchange across the Indo-Pacific region, building bridges through academic, diplomatic, and commercial partnerships rooted in centuries-old maritime connections.

His voyages built lasting bridges between cultures, economies, and peoples—a legacy of peaceful exchange that continues to inspire regional collaboration to this day.
"Zhenghe built relationships based on diplomacy, trade, and cooperation, engaging in joint adventures with local rulers and promoting peaceful engagement. That legacy is preserved through the Zhenghe Forum which serves as a platform for historical dialogue and international cooperation."
    Anwar Ibrahim
Pivot of Nusantara in the Indo Pacific Southeast Asia has long held a central role in the history of Indian-Pacific connectivity, serving as a vital crossroads of maritime trade, cultural exchange, and civilizational dialogue. From the flourishing entrepôts of Melaka to the welcoming of Zheng He’s fleet in the 15th century, Nusantara ports linked East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa in networks of commerce and diplomacy. Today, Nusantara continues to play a pivotal role in the Indo-Pacific region, championing peaceful cooperation, multilateral engagement, and shared prosperity—values embodied by Zheng He’s voyages and echoed in Nusantgara's contemporary diplomatic and economic outreach.
